Privacy

What this site collects, what it does not, and how to change your mind.

This site collects as little as it can. There is no advertising, no retargeting, no data broker, no profile built about you, and nothing sold or shared for money.

Analytics

The site uses Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages people read.

Nothing is stored on your device and no cookie is set unless you allow it. Analytics runs in consent mode with everything denied by default, so until you press Allow, Google receives no identifier for you and cannot recognise you across visits or across sites.

If you do allow it, Google sets its own cookies and can measure returning visits. Your IP address is anonymised. You can change your mind at any time from the Cookie settings link at the foot of every page — turning it back off is exactly as easy as turning it on.

The only thing kept before you decide is the decision itself, stored in your browser under yk.consent. That is what lets the site remember a "no", and it never leaves your device.

The newsletter

If you subscribe, your email address is sent to Mailchimp, which stores and delivers the letter. Mailchimp records ordinary delivery information such as opens. Your address is used to send the letter and nothing else — it is not sold, rented, or passed to anyone.

Every email carries an unsubscribe link. Using it removes you completely.

Hosting

The site is hosted on Vercel. Like any web host, its servers log requests — IP address, browser, page requested, timestamp — for delivery and security. Those logs are ordinary server operation, kept briefly, and are not used to build any profile.

What the site does not do

  • No advertising or advertising cookies
  • No cross-site or cross-device tracking
  • No fingerprinting
  • No social media pixels, embeds, or share widgets
  • No session recording, heatmaps, or scroll tracking
  • No selling or sharing of personal data
  • No third-party fonts, scripts, or CDNs beyond the analytics named above

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask what data is held about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, withdraw consent, or object to processing. Under the GDPR and UK GDPR you also have the right to portability and the right to complain to your data protection authority. Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 you have equivalent rights of access, correction, erasure and grievance redressal.

In practice, for this site that mostly means two things: turn analytics off with the link at the foot of any page, and unsubscribe from any email. For anything else, write to the address below and it will be handled.

Contact

<!-- TODO(Suneel): confirm the address to publish here before this page goes live on main. This must be a mailbox you actually monitor — it is the contact of record for data requests. -->

Changes

If this page changes materially, the revision date below changes with it. There is no version history to consult; the current text is the current practice.

The letter

Occasional writing on entrepreneurship, knowledge, and the long game. No schedule, no pitch. Sent only when there is something worth sending.
